Welcome to BABY-SEALS Swim Academy
Welcome to BABY SEALS Swim Academy!
Lightning fast, independent and scared of nothing ?
Rather cautious, or even absolutely terrified of water?
If either statement describes your child, you are likely a mother or father looking for help.
In a matter of weeks, BABY SEALS Swim Academy can successfully transform toddlers and young children into confident swimmers. Even infants can learn to flip onto their back and float. We give parents peace of mind that their child does have a fighting chance in an aquatic accident and skills that make him or her a champ in and around the pool.
RESULTS IN WEEKS, NOT YEARS!
CHILDREN FROM 6 MONTHS TO 6 YEARS
Now in South County too!!!
Infant Survival ($24 per private lesson, 16 lesson commitment, $98 registration)
Kinder Swim ($24 per private lesson, 24 lesson commitment, $98 registration)
In this 6-week program, Toddlers and children up to 6 years are taught the swim-float-swim- sequence. Students learn to swim full immersion to the steps or side, learn to flip onto their back, breathe, relax, regain strength and continue to swim to safety, even fully clothed. This serves as the foundation for learning correct stroke technique. Lessons are one-on-one, 4 days a week, 10-15 minutes, depending on the child’s stamina.
This 4-week program teaches Infants, six to twelve months, to roll over from a face down or submerged position onto their backs to relax, breathe, even when fully clothed in a winter outfit.Lessons are one-on-one, 4 days a week, 10-15 minutes long depending on the child’s stamina.

Aqua Babies ($20 per group lesson, once a week, no registration)
Fun-Days ($20 per group lesson, once a week, no registration)
After completing Kinder Swim, "Fun-Days" is a once a week group class for 2.5 to 5 year olds that is designed to enhance and improve our swimmer’s skill and confidence, while emphasizing the safety skills learned in private lessons. Maximum of 4 children per 30 minute long class.
After completing Infant Survival, "Aqua-Babies" is designed to promote safe water fun for skilled infants and toddlers. These group classes maximize retention and allow parents and babies to practice the skills learned during private lessons, while they swim, float, sing and play together in the water. 30-minute class with parent participation.
I am Steffi Saul-Ketzler, certified Infant Aquatics Instructor and Founder of BABY SEALS Swim Academy. My daughter Anika was born in 2006, the same year that a tragic drowning accident of a little girl in our neighborhood prompted me to look for a program that addressed those awful "what if"-scenarios. I discovered Infant Aquatics. My decision to become an instructor and introduce the program to the Central Coast made sense, because there simply is no comparable program available in our County. As for myself; I started swimming at a very young age in my home town of Havelberg, Germany and swam competitively until I was a teenager. My husband, Olaf Saul, and I met at a German university, where I pursued my masters' degree in agriculture. In 2001, we moved to the Central Coast of California, where I began my career as an agricultural research biologist. My certifications include infant/children/adult CPR and First Aid and lifeguard training. I am a member of the United States Swim Schools Association and of course, certified as Infant Aquatics Instructor. My training with Judy Heumann was very rewarding and I was especially intrigued by the intense learning process the children undergo, in addition to the educational aspect offered to the parents. I am looking forward to providing your children with the necessary lifesaving water skills to promote a lifelong love of swimming and water activities. Sincerely, Steffi Saul-Ketzler

The safety of our Children is our highest priority. This program is by far the best investment that we have ever made and has truly exceeded our expectations.
Our four-year-old son James has tried other swim lessons in the past, but has never even come close to the success he had with his BABY SEALS instructor.
Before enrolling with Steffi, he would not even put his head in the water. It is so gratifying to see James having so much fun in the water,
truly for the first time, in this swim program.

I recorded a session and all the friend and family members that watch that clip where amazed what my little 10-month-old boy could do.
The comment I heard the most was, "I just wanted to reach thru the screen and safe him" I loved being able to tell them:
"Well, you don't have to, because he saved himself" This is all because of Steffi's fabulous instruction.

My Son Ronan, age 2, just completed a 6-week course with Steffi. He had no prior water experience. In those 6-weeks he has learned to swim,
float and rest, and continue swimming until he reaches the side of the pool. He did not like it at first and certainly cried a lot,
but with Steffi's gentle instruction, he can now swim-float-swim himself to safety.

My two sons are three and one years old and they were enrolled in each of the programs BABY SEALS is offering.
We are just completing the six-week program and the results are astonishing. What Steffi as been able to accomplish with my Children,
is beyond my wildest expectations and has given me the peace of mind that I could not have gotten with any other program.

FAQ's
Why do your programs seem to be much more expensive than other swim schools?
It actually is not. Keep in mind, that you are buying private lessons for your child. Instead of your child being one of many depending on the student / teacher ratio, our Infant-Survival- and Kinderswim program is one-on-one with your child and the teacher being the only ones in the water. Not just does your child get our undivided attention, the result of that type of training is that in 4 - 6 weeks from now, your child has a fighting chance to survive an aquatic accident. We encourage you to shop around, but compare results as much as pricing.
Why are lessons so short?
Our lessons are short because the lessons are individualized, with only one child in the water at a time. I am able to devote my undivided attention to each child, develop a trusting relationship, which leads to success in learning aquatic skills. We may have playtime after the lesson, but the entire lesson is devoted to learning new skills, or mastering acquired skills. The lessons are quite physically demanding, because children are swimming non-stop, and do tire out very quickly. You will see this when you come to observe. In addition, because babies and young children have short attention spans, 10-15 minutes is the ideal time to teach new skills to them. Each lesson progresses into the next one, so that by the end of each week, our students have truly progressed. By the end of 6 weeks, they can swim-float-swim fully clothed and are capable of surviving an accidental encounter with the water.
How is your program different from Baby & Me classes?
We are conquering the "What-If" scenario, meaning that what should happen when there is " Baby and NOT me" in the water. Classes in which babies are taught to swim to mommy are fun, but in our opinion may send the wrong message. Making your child comfortable in and around water while not teaching them to float or swim on their own seems to be the worst of both worlds. The same applies to floatation devices: It causes children to develop a false sense of security in the water. Children who learn proper breath breath control (not blowing bubbles), the survival roll and back float, have both, a healthy respect of water and love for swimming.
Will children retain their skills?
Experience indicates that there is an extremely high retention rate one year after completing the lessons. Upon completion of private lessons, children 12 months of age and older who continue swimming once a week in our group lessons seldom require additional private lessons. In addition, continuing to swim on a regular basis under our supervision enhances skills and allows children to complete the process of becoming safe and skilled recreational swimmers. For those unable to attend weekly group classes, update lessons every 6 months or so are strongly recommended due to the vast changes in bodily growth and development that babies and young children undergo.
